The fake pursuit of happiness!!!

Hola,

I want to discuss this with you all for a long time and I think it’s a sign that I should write this post on “pursuit of happiness ) no, not the movie but actual happiness we all are looking for. So on Friday evening while browsing through Netflix I came across a kind documentary “Minimalists- Less is now”.

I didn’t even complete the whole thing when it hit me. Are we running after fake/pseudo happiness that is like eating a bitter thing laced with chocolate i.e we only get satisfied or happy only for a little time? As soon as the chocolate layer is over we are no longer interested even though we have invested our time and money to get it. Woah did it sound too hyperfocal, let me simplify it for you.

We are currently living in a world of influence and comparison. The company’s marketing s are so great that they make you feel that you want those things even if you don’t and half of us get things under the influence/peer pressure from social media. believe me, the life portrayed on social media is never the full story.

As many said our generation is tying our happiness to things than relations and people. maybe due to fear of having heartbroken or being unable to come to terms to live with another person who is different from you and having no time to deal with the demands of a relationship. Many of us are finding solace in retail therapy.

And many are buying stuff just to showcase the so-called “aesthetic lifestyle” on social media. The problem is people are spending their hard-earned money on something that they don’t want in the first place and also end up damaging the environment too because as soon as the realization kicks in the things they bought in haste end up in landfills.

So if you want to know how can you help earth read my article on earth day.

Right now our environment and pockets need a sustainable and minimalist lifestyle. So instead of buying things of FOMO or haste…stop… breathe and evaluate your life and choices by looking around you and thinking thrice before buying something.

Always reuse/recycle or donate your clothes and never give in to fast fashion as all other clothes will end up in landfills.

So here are things we can do to find real happiness.

  • Find your trigger that is making you take wrong choices.
  • Declutter your space and donate things that you don’t use or no longer need. Please visit the center personally to see how your unwanted things bring joy to others.
  • Meditate/yoga your way into peacefulness, Meditation/yoga will help you to control your senses and balance emotions.
  • Nurture plants or adopt a pet.
  • Never compare your lives with others. Remember the grass is always greener on the other side.
  • Invest in your career building instead of shopping for unnecessary things.
  • Use what you have before buying anything new

And always remember that “True happiness never comes from materialistic things, it comes from within ourselves”
