An age-old beauty ritual – Tribe concepts cleanser (ubtan)

Namaste,

As we are celebrating the days of Dussehra with pomp and grandeur, I thought to share a product review of something close to our culture and tradition.

Remember during our childhood whenever it’s a festival our moms would insist on bathing us by applying a load of oil and ubtan to our body and shampoo our hair with soap nuts / shikakai and give dhoop to our hair. I believe no beauty products and hair dryers are a no match to that of traditional beauty practices.

But due to our busy lives and 9 to 5 (who are we kidding our 12 hr or more) jobs, we are inclining towards the store-bought beauty products laden with chemicals and parabens as they are more convenient and easy to use but we are not looking at the long term damage to the skin.

Tribe concepts – brightening cleanser (cleanser, scrub, and mask )

A traditional way to beautify your skin. I still remember those childhood Sundays and festive mornings where my mom used to oil my hair and apply ubtan on my body and give my hair a wash with shikakai. My mom always preferred natural ingredients for skin and hair over store-bought products. So after trying several products and searching for chemical-free and natural products for my skin.

I came across the tribe concepts product range and found this face brightening daily cleanser which is more similar to ubtan or nalugu powder.

About the product & packaging:

What made me buy is that it is made of 12 organic ingredients

  • sun-dried rose petals
  • organic sandalwood,
  • manjistha,
  • Tunga musta,
  • kachuralu,
  • bavanchalu,
  • wild turmeric root,
  • holy basil leaves,
  • neem leaves,
  • vetiver,
  • sugandi root,

which are vegan, and plant-based with no preservatives. It comes packed in a cute stainless steel container.
The best thing is you can use it as a Scrub/Mask/Cleanser. It has this ayurvedic smell that will definitely take you on a nostalgic trip to those days where our mom and grandmom used to give us a nice bath.

The cleanser claims to help in skin brightening, getting an even tone, for spot reduction, tan removal, blackhead removal and gives a young and clear skin. Which I observed after using It for few days.
